Randy, I should have been more specific and noted that the films aren't widely available in theatres. I do know that the films were shown in Detroit and that there was a screening at the TIFF Lightbox last week.

"While you will not likely get to see either of these films in theatres"

So not true. Just across the river, I saw both films (and the 8 other nominated non-documentary shorts) at the Detroit Film Theatre, which is part of the Detroit Institute of Arts. It's an annual sold-out event.

Unfortunately for readers, the last showing is going on right now as I write this.

Comment on Windsor’s brain drain by Tom Lucier

The lack of job opportunities is clearly an issue here. I used to bemoan the gifted, talented people that left Windsor for "greener pastures", but now I root for them no matter where they go. The simple fact that there aren't genuine options for many of our brightest and best is something worth investigating.

But I think there's an element worth looking at that seems to go overlooked time and time again...our horrendous, deplorable, debilitating environmental situation.

Windsor has the worst air quality in Canada. We're also listed as being a hotbed of illness with a lot of suspicion being aimed at the level of pollution we endure. Our options for green-living (an ever-rising priority for young people) are almost nil. This seems to be a clear repellant of our city. With so much going IN OUR FAVOUR with tech start-ups and a burgeoning cultural sector, the environmental disaster we call home is clearly a reason people don't mind leaving when opportunity calls them elsewhere. And our environmental situation isn't even on the map. I can't remember when this issue was deeply discussed or assessed.

This needs to be part of the discussion, in my humble opinion.

If someone offered a Windsorite a job in Ottawa...the city with the second-best air quality in Ontario, with tons of natural spaces nearby...why wouldn't they go (aside from the magnetic draw of family in Windsor)? If you're offered a job in Montreal, a city RIFE with bike lanes, great venues, great restaurants, a huge art scene...how could you NOT go?!

I have about a half dozen friends that have been vying for fantastic jobs here in Windsor, in job marjets that are specialized and small...and subject to cronyism. They were often overlooked, or not even given interviews for positions in Windsor, only to be later headhunted on websites like LinkedIn and offered bigger jobs with bigger responsibilities at more prestigious companies.

This is an abhorrent reality that not only verifies the lure of other cities, but it's also a scandalous allegation that we overlook our own on SO many fronts when it comes to hiring.

Hopefully we figure this out...because Windsor needs to keep it's best. I'm not going anywhere, so I guess I'd better start working on this environmental situation in my own way.

We appologize if she is upset, but we are simply reporting facts provided to us from Windsor Police Services. We didn't declare her a missing person, we just reported that someone reported her missing and the police were investigating.

I am Adeola's father and I can understand why she is upset at this post. We have been so worried and have suspected that she may be under stress with rigours of school and upset, being her first time away from home. We are however filled with joy that she is safe. We are all here waiting to help. So, if anyone runs into her, pls tell her to call collect to her sister in toronto 905-430-0565 or call me at 925-219-1139 or call her little sister Mimi. Also, her california cell phone has been turned on and she only needs to plug it in and charge it to call.

it is inappropriate to post a picture of her with the police and saying she left in an ambulance. you have no idea what was going on and you should not post anything with out checking facts. the student is already upset with the first article and this is not something she needs.
